In collaboration with Manufacturethinking and the Neuchâtel Chamber of Commerce and Industry

In the presence of Christine Gagnebin-Diacon, who wrote the book “La fabrique et le village: la Tavannes Watch & Co – 1890-1918”, published by Simonin.

Debate with the author about the incredible story of “Tavannes Watch”, its owner and his relationship with the workers, the relationship between the factory and the land, and of course the machine at the heart of industry.

Come and discover the history of the Tavannes Watch Co, a company that enjoyed meteoric growth and dominated the Swiss watchmaking scene for a time. In the process, it introduced the manufacture of sector-specific machine tools, giving birth to an entire economic branch that is still very much alive in the region today: the machine industry.

The debate will first be organized around a few key questions to fully understand the issues at stake, before opening up to the participants.
