ASRH 2025 Conference

Roughness measurement and its impact on quality and performance

Mr. F. Ganguin (ETA SA) will present the work of the “Roughness measurement for watch components” working group , whose aim is to draw up a new NIHS standard. The aim is to define terminology, test conditions and methods adapted to the shape and size of watch components.

Mr. M. Zago (Argor-Aljba SA) will be coming from Ticino to present the results of their collaboration with the Berner Fachhochschule de Bienne (BFH) on laser texturing and optimization of DLC coatings to improve tribological performance.

Professor Y. Salvadé (He-Arc) will discuss the aesthetic impact of roughness, as well as the means developed by the Haute école Arc to quantify and qualify surface conditions, particularly in the watchmaking field.

Professor Anna Igual Muñoz (EPFL, SCI STI SM) will close the presentations by exploring the complex links between roughness, surface chemistry and tribological properties.

The presentations will be followed by a round-table discussion enabling participants to exchange views with the speakers and ASRH members.

A convivial aperitif will close the conference, encouraging informal discussions and networking.
