Open to all Swiss microtechnology players who wish to expand their network, the NTN Innovation Booster – Microtech aims to improve their competitiveness and plan their future by participating or proposing ideas or problems on an online ideation platform. For 2022, the NTN Innovation Booster is looking to further expand its network in order to offer the possibility to a maximum of Swiss microtechnology companies to participate in collaborative feasibility studies supported by Innosuisse.

Twice a year, the ideas posted on the platform that will have aroused sufficient interest from companies interested in participating (via a financial contribution of 1’000CHF to 2’500CHF per company) will receive an additional 20’000CHF. This funding will be used to conduct a 6-month collaborative feasibility study. After this period and in case of potential, the idea can be further developed with the support of the consortium partners and Innosuisse for example. The Microtech Booster will finance 45 innovative studies over 4 years, with the objective of improving the competitiveness of the Swiss microtechnology industry and promoting innovation.

Chaperoned byARCM (Association de Recherche Communautaire des moyens de production Microtechnique), the project includes key players in innovation, such as Microcity, the i-moutier Incubator, aiti (Associazione Industrie Ticinesi), inos (Innovations Netzwerk Ostschweiz) and theAssociation Switzerland Innovation West EPFL. These six members work together and are supported by Innosuisse in this program to promote open innovation and collaborative projects for an innovative and competitive Swiss microtechnology industry.

In 2021, 10 ideas have been selected, including companies such as Louis Bélet, Tornos, Jabil, Bien-Air, Sylvac, Fanuc, Econorm, CP Automation, Straumann, Trumpf, Panatere, Kering, Kistler, Kleis, 109°, Kaïnoo, etc.

As an example, one of the ideas that was supported in 2021 has 8 different industrial partners including a robot developer, companies working in the medical field, in the field of sensors, tool making, watch making,… And an academic partner. These partners can study this method for their application cases. They will also help the idea holder judge the value of her approach to the industry and determine if the technology is mature enough to allow for more comprehensive product development.

The Microtech Booster platform can help microtechnology companies communicate their project idea and find partners for a collaborative feasibility study. Legal issues are also supervised by the Microtech Booster in collaboration with the University of Neuchâtel. In addition, various workshops can be offered to familiarize companies with innovative and collaborative projects.

Don’t wait any longer and check out the ideas posted on www.microtechbooster.swiss or post some yourself! Joëlle Tosetti, in charge of the program, is at your disposal for any information.
